This is the worst news I’ve ever reported in a blog post.
Peter Rasmussen, director of “Rendevous”, “Killer Robot” and “Stolen Life”, has died.
I held Peter in great regard both as a friend, a colleague and an extraordinarily talented filmmaker. Everyone involved in Machinima is lessened by this loss.

From I Hate Sheep!
Peter Rassmussen
Peter Rassmussen was one of the cornerstones of the Machinima community. He died earlier today. Hugh and I have already put up a short tribute to Peter on the Machinima For Dummies blog, but I want to take a few lines to add my personal thoughts a...

I’m gutted and don’t know what to say, except…. shit.
A shocking loss to us all. He was one of the great inspirations to me for making machinima and machinima tools.
I’m deeply saddened to hear this news. Peter gave our craft a shining beam of spotlight with his films. I’ve been corresponding with Peter for a few months now and just began a writing project with him. I regret I could not have had more time in the company of his talent. RIP - Peter… John
I’ve been astonished at the number of people who were collaborating with Pete in one way or another, myself included. I’ve spoken to several people so far who’s reaction to the news of his death has been “But I was only speaking to him last week! We were planning to do …”
I think it’s fair to say that, if you got the chance to work with Peter, you didn’t turn the opportunity down.
I’m very sad to hear about Peter’s death. As others have mentioned, I’ve been chatting with him by email for months. I feel like I’ve lost a good friend. What terrible news….
Peter and I have been corresponding for some time. He was a wonderful and talented guy and I was deeply saddened to hear this news today. RIP - Peter, all my love Ann xxx
God, I don’t think I’ve spoken to him since I stopped working with Machinima .com. But, I still fondly remember him being a great guy to work with just from the little contact I had with him during the launch of “Rendevous”.
The community is deffinately a lot poorer for his passing.
This is indeed both shocking and somber news. I have always been inspired by his work, specifically in legitimizing the craft with professionalism not normally seen in Machinima productions.
I only spoke to him a few times during the monthly skype chats. He always struck me as being an interesting guy and I regret not getting to know him better.
It is a sad day indeed.
I am at a loss for words. I did not know Peter but I offer my condolences.
I worked with Peter many years ago when he co-wrote the feature film In The Winter Dark with James Bogle. He was wonderful to work with then and its been amazing to see how he moved his extraordinary talents to his recent work. He was a great film maker and he will be sadly missed. I wish I had made the effort to tell him how much he was respected.
My condolences to his family. Terrible news…
